Value Acceleration requires a robust team and for the CEPA to be masterful at designing the team then leading it or choosing not to and having a fellow advisor take charge. It is very complicated and requires an understanding of how everyone on the team makes money, the role, process, and approach each team member has, how to choose the leader of the overall client engagement, being able to work with person and interpersonal driving dynamics, and how to identify your own strengths on the team and your highest and best use in the process. In addition, CEPAs will learn some tools like letters of understanding, periodic relationship reviews, advisor dinners, use of peer groups, and working well together on a client assignment. Lastly, developing a team also means understanding the owner, their team, and the families. Understand the net result of working together as advisors from a family’s perspective on money, time, and legacy while understanding the owner’s mindset and developing a respect for creator, spouse, employees, and next generation.
